Assessment of groundwater resources
Selection of suitable areas for locating groundwater resources is the first step in the assessment of new groundwater sources. The location is proposed based on the character of the source (individual or mass supply), the geological or hydrogeological conditions of the site, the supposed limitations resulting from the protection of the resources or property right relations. Areas are located using hydrogeophysical methods and telestezic investigation. After discussing the area with the owner a work project is elaborated and hydrogeological investigation is carried out. An evaluation of obtained data is made in the form of reports specifying the utilizable yield of the resource, the water quality and defining conditions for groundwater abstraction (including design of protection zones). The report on the hydrogeological investigation is used for issuing a permit for water handing and options for subsequent utilization of water resources.
